Information of iOS Jailbreaking

What is iOS Jailbreaking?
iOS Jailbreaking allows Apple's iOS devices such as iPod touch, iPhone or iPad to gain full access and remove the limitations imposed by Apple. Users will be able to download additional applications and themes for their iOS devices after jailbroken.

Is it legal?
According to Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) on 2010, it is legal in United States and some other countries even Apple has announced that the practice of jailbreaking can void the warranty. However, it can be reversed to the original iOS version through iTunes as the jailbreaking process does not include the modification to the hardware system.

Difference between Tethered and Untethered Jailbreaking.
For tethered jailbreak, the device is required to connect to the computer every time when you run out of battery or restart your phone. It's not recommended to use tethered jailbreak as your device would not be able to power on without a computer.
However, untethered jailbreak allows the devices to be powered on and powered off without the needs of connecting to a computer.
